It is inevitable and undeniable fact of life. With the overwhelming success of Orin Peli’s Paranormal Activity it was only a matter of time before the line of imitators, knock-offs, and posers began to form. Now, the time has come. The Asylum, the studio that brought you Snakes on a Train and Transmorphers, is releasing Paranormal Entity.

With a street date of December 29, 2009, Paranormal Entity is described as, “Actual footage of the events leading to the 2008 ‘murder’ of Samantha Finley. This DVD, released against the wishes of the authorities, proves that nothing human caused Samantha’s death.” The trailer, which you can watch below, plays as one would assume. It features a hysterical 911 call played over images of randomly opening doors, a girl standing outside in her underwear, and a brief montage of what I can only imagine is meant to be disturbing images.

As opposed to Paranormal Activity, which was marketed via word of mouth and the immensely successful “Demand it” campaign, The Asylum is emphasizing the “found footage” aspect of Paranormal Entity. They have gone so far as to not list the names of the actors involved or the director. In perhaps the only interesting aspect of this film, according to Dread Central, Paranormal Entity’s budget was four to five times bigger than the budget for Paranormal Activity.
